Factors that influence number of sessions needed

The process is individualised

For anxiety and depression, the process typically involves 12-20 sessions. However, the number of sessions is not fixed and there are a number of factors that influence the number of sessions needed:

  • Symptom Severity: More severe symptoms may require more sessions.
  • Duration of symptoms: Longer-standing issues may necessitate a longer treatment course.
  • Individual progress: Some individuals may make significant improvements in a shorter timeframe, while others may need more time.
  • Practice between sessions: Consistent effort in practicing skills and applying learnings outside of sessions can shorten the overall treatment time.
