Athletes
“There are four contests within a football match; each team is trying to dominate physically, technically, and tactically, firstly. But each team is also trying to dominate the other mentally. So, Sports Psychology is helping coaches, athletes and teams achieve a winning state of mind; a state of mind that allows them to maximise their physical, technical and tactical skills.”

From a sporting perspective, I have worked with and provided psychological support to senior inter-county GAA players, Irish internationals and All-Ireland Champions. I have worked closely with individuals preparing them for European & World Championships. Further, I have worked with athletes from a wide range of sports including: Soccer, Rugby, Boxing, Snooker & GAA. Whether you are an amateur athlete, a professional athlete, a semi-professional athlete or a young athlete who has aspirations of turning professional, the psychological aspect of performance is a crucial component of the process. With expertise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and sport psychology, I work collaboratively with athletes to develop the mental tools needed to perform consistently and confidently. My approach is evidence-based, practical, and athlete-centered—focusing on understanding how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours influence performance outcomes.
By combining psychological theory with sport-specific insights, I help athletes overcome challenges such as performance anxiety, fear of failure, and perfectionism, while also enhancing their everyday well-being and resilience. Each session is tailored to the individual’s goals, providing structure, support, and a pathway for sustainable mental and physical performance.Below are some of the areas I specialise in and what I typically encounter when I work with athletes:

Whether you’re aiming to elevate performance, recover mentally from injury, or build long-term psychological resilience, I offer practical support that makes a lasting impact. Key ways I help athletes:

- 🎯 Strategic goal setting to align performance objectives with personal values and long-term growth
- 🔁 Understanding and establishing high-performance habits that support consistency and focus

General Wellness
Research has generally found that athlete well-being is associated with athlete success. Feeling good “off the pitch” is important to perform well “on the pitch.” I have vast experience in helping individuals navigating the challenges away from performance that might be keeping them stuck. Areas that I specialise in include:
- Managing life transitions
- Conflict at work
- Managing personal and sporting commitments
- Supporting athlete mental health
What Athletes Are Saying:
A good experience all round. I needed help with my mindset for running and Jimmy was amazing to deal with. I’ve seen great improvements all round and I will be visiting him again in the future.
